Some parents who may fall short of information on the technological side need not worry about getting their kids a kindle reader and not getting their money’s worth from the reading device, because there are enough kindle books for kids to enjoy. Fact is, the device allows you to access whatever book that you may need at any time of the day, with its Wi-Fi capability, making it even more appealing to reading fanatics.

The Velveteen Rabbit is short but charming, a timeless classic which pinches the heart of every reader, young and old. It tells of the transforming power of love and, as in most children’s stories, the desire of every toy to become real.

Horatio Humble Beats the Big “D” is a children’s rhyming picture book that tackles dyslexia. For those who are unfamiliar with the term, dyslexia, according to the Mayo Clinic, “is an impairment in your brain’s ability to translate written images received from your eyes into meaningful language.” And, it is the most common learning disability in children.

Peter Pan and his adventures at Neverland is a fascinating read. The original story in print was more absorbing, extra interesting, than the movie because I was able to learn more about each of the characters – the seemingly unlikeable Mr. Darling, the very affectionate Mrs. Darling, the ever so watchful Nana, the motherly Wendy, the always arguing brothers John and Michael, the forgetful Peter, the insecure Captain Hook, the jealous Tinkerbell, and the predatory crocodile. That is why in my hierarchy of interests, reading always goes first from watching movies.

If it’s not the new iPod model or smart phone parents are almost always saving up for their kids as holiday or birthday presents, the kindle for kids becomes a good alternative, for educational and entertainment purposes alike. But surprisingly, several parents still don’t find this electronic reader a viable present for kids since they find it too mature for a gift. If such is the case, then should we start considering reading a too mature activity for kids as well? I don’t think so.

Frederico, the Mouse Violinist is an absolutely wonderful children’s picture book. Through a delightful story, the author teaches about the world’s most famous violin maker, Antonio Stradivari, along with various parts of the violin.

You know how traveling-and we mean literally going on a long road trip-can become tiresome for the little ones, so here’s a tip: take Kindle kids books with them to get busy with. In a nutshell, Kindle is an electronic reader brought to the market by Amazon sometime in 2007. It is an electronic device that makes online newspapers, magazines, electronic books, or commonly referred to as e-books, possible for reading instead of reading it in the usual book print or in your laptop.

I am always looking for audio books that my kids and I can listen to while driving to and from appointments. We all seem to prefer our “stories” to music on drives longer than ten minutes or so. A friend recommended The Evolution of Calpurnia Tate by Jacqueline Kelly.

My kids enjoyed The Castle in the Attic by Elizabeth Winthrop, so we decided to listen to the sequel, The Battle for the Castle. Both children gave the book a thumbs up, and I was sufficiently entertained with the book to keep listening to it.

My son likes knights, castles, and battles. My daughter likes animals, both anthropomorphic and not. Both of my kids like stories of children about their age or a little older, and both of my kids like magic and fantasy.
